They'd love to have you for dinner
Sasha Savage is in love with Jack Greenway - a handsome, charming, clever... vegetarian. Which would be acceptable if it weren't for the fact that Sasha's family are very much 'carnivorous', with strong views to boot. Behind the respectable family façade all is not as it seems. Sasha's father Titus rules his clan with an iron fist, and although her mother Angelica never has a hair out of place, her credit card bills are shocking and her culinary skills are getting more... 'adventurous' by the day. As for Sasha's demonic brother Ivan? Well, after accidentally decapitating a supermodel in their family bathroom his golden boy image is looking wobbly. To the outsider the Savages might look like the perfect family, but there is more to them than meets the eye. When the too-curious private detective Vernon English starts to dig for darker truths, this tight knit family starts to unravel - as does their sinister and predatory taste in human beings...
This has to be one of the best dark humoured books I have read in a very long time. From start to finish it has you captured. I honestly didn't put it down from the moment I started reading it. I absolutely devoured it.
The Savages are a family with a bond like no other, a secret bond that will remain within them for generations. So if someone wants to come along and try either break that bond or maybe snoop around a bit, then you can guarantee there is going to be trouble and one very large family meal.
I think I loved every single member of the Savage family. They all add something different to the story which enriches the plot greatly keeping you guessing and thinking. My favourite without a doubt has to be twelve year old Ivan, who causes mischief with pranks that are more dangerous than fun, jokes that are awful, and a serious need for the approval of his father. My heart went out to him, but he had me giggling at his antics right the way throughout.
To be fair there wasn't a part of this book I didn't enjoy and I am seriously looking forward to the next book in the series.
I'd definitely recommend you join the Savages for Dinner.
