The List - Joanna Bolouri

After finishing a book which let's just say wasn't all that, I deliberately opted for this to liven me up and get me out of what I knew would become the dreaded bloggers reading slum. I need something quick, witty, spicy and shocking. And I was so hoping this would be that... My god, I was in seventh heaven when I got started. This was everything I wanted and much, much more.
When a diary book is done right it is a winner. The thoughts and feelings are pure and not ones you'd usually see or hear in a normal book. It's brilliant to get to know the entire person fully. Plus their take on the world as well. Joanna Bulouri has got this absolutely spot on. Heroine Phoebe is my kind of girl, she's quirky, quick witted and I love her and want to be her mate and it's great to get her most intimate thoughts. Her friend Lucy was also amazing with her I don't care attitude, loved them both I did.
What I loved most about this book is how genuine it is. There is no 'oh I really shouldn't write that it may offend someone' crap, it's straight and honest and to be fair written how we speak. No matter where you are in the world, when we are with the girls or on our own we are vile. We have potty mouths and by god we can use it to crucify. This is what I love and this is what I crave when reading. Lucy Robinson gave me my first literal orgasm and now we have Joanna Bolouri who could well have just knocked our Lucy into a clear second by the use of tit-wank. I love the whole sex thing. Girls do have needs, we are sexual creatures with a passion much bigger than men, but we have to be quiet and pretend otherwise where as men shout out from rooftops, tits!
Anyway, buy this book. Treat yourself to something new, refreshing. It's an absolutely fantastic debut. Hysterically funny and a great romance story. Joanna Bolouri has taken both chick lit and erotica and flipped them on their heads creating a stand-alone book of absolute joy. I swear down you will fall in love with the characters, fall in love with Joanna Bolouri, and fall into writing a list of your own.
There so best be a sequel.
Phoebe Henderson may be single but she sure doesn't feel fabulous. It's been a year since she found her boyfriend Alex in bed with another woman, and multiple cases of wine and extensive relationship analysis with best friend Lucy have done nothing to help. Faced with a new year but no new love, Phoebe concocts a different kind of resolution.
The List: ten things she's always wanted to do in bed but has never had the chance (or the courage!) to try. A bucket list for between the sheets. One year of pleasure, no strings attached.
Factor in meddlesome colleagues, friends with benefits, getting frisky al fresco and maybe, possibly, true love and Phoebe's got her work cut out for her.
